What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.


Revolution Plus is a 6-in-1 topical solution spray medication for cats that provides relief from fleas, ticks, ear mites, heartworms, hookworms, and roundworms. It is an FDA-approved parasiticide and known to be a safe and effective product. However, it is only to be applied to cats that are older than 8 weeks of age and weigh more than 2.5lbs.

The active ingredients in Revolution Plus are selamectin and sarolaner.


Revolution should be administered once a month and in the following manner: 

  • Press the cap of the tube until you hear a click, indicating your tube has been opened
  • Part the fur at the base of your cat’s neck and touch the tip of the tube to the visible skin
  • Squeeze the tube 3 or 4 times in the one spot, observing the application of Revolution Plus
  • While continuing to squeeze the tube, glide it along the skin and away from the liquid before lifting it away from your pet
  • Be sure to empty the tube entirely before discarding it


Selamectin / Sarolaner


  • Ensure your cat is over 8 weeks of age and weights more than 2.8 pounds
  • Product should only be applied topically for parasite-relief purposes, and not in the ear canal if cat has ear mites
  • Product is flammable - be sure to keep away from open flame or electrical sources when applying
